Fixed Term for 42 months (3.5 years) Full Time (37 hrs p/w)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Apprentice. You will work in partnership with colleagues in Communities and Public Health, the Council and other organisations to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Bristol. This is a 3-year apprenticeship training programme to become a Public Health Practitioner gaining a BSc in Public Health (Hons). It is a unique opportunity to earn while you learn, and we welcome an enthusiastic, dedicated team member committed to studying towards a degree level. We welcome applications with local community knowledge from within Bristol.

What will I be doing?

As a Public Health Apprentice, you will:

  • Work in partnership with colleagues in Communities and Public Health, the Council and other organisations to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Bristol.
  • Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of public health initiatives.
  • Work in specified areas of public health and across portfolio areas in line with the learning on the degree programme and the business need.
  • Work across the three domains of public health as and when required: Health Improvement, Health Protection, Healthcare Public Health.

What do I need to have?

To carry out this role successfully you will need to have good communication skills with strong interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. An understanding of health inequalities and a willingness to develop your knowledge in this area is a must.

Applying for an apprenticeship

To apply for an adult apprenticeship, you must be aged 16 years or over, at the start of employment with qualifications in English and Maths. If you do not have these, then you must be prepared to study for the Function Skills Level 2 in both subjects alongside your apprenticeship.
