Bristol Cathedral is recruiting two part-time Visitor Experience Assistants to help deliver an outstanding experience for everyone who visits the Cathedral.
Located in the heart of Bristol, the Cathedral welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
Whether someone is attending worship, exploring our history, enjoying a tour, supporting an event or simply seeking a moment of reflection, our Visitor Experience Team helps ensure they receive a warm and memorable welcome.
As a Visitor Experience Assistant, you will be at the heart of that welcome.
You will greet visitors, answer questions, encourage donations and Gift Aid, support volunteers, promote tours and retail sales, and help maintain high standards across our visitor spaces.
You will also support events and activities taking place at both Bristol Cathedral and the Lord Mayor’s Chapel.
We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with others and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.
Strong communication skills, a friendly and proactive approach, and the confidence to engage with a diverse range of visitors are more important than previous Cathedral or heritage experience.
About the Role
- Providing a warm, informed and inclusive welcome to visitors
- Encouraging donations and Gift Aid to support the Cathedral's work
- Selling tour tickets and retail items through the Cathedral shop
- Supporting events and activities across Cathedral sites
- Acting as a key point of contact for volunteer Welcomers and Guides
- Helping maintain safe, clean and welcoming visitor areas
- Responding to visitor enquiries and providing information about the Cathedral
About You
- Experience in a customer-facing role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, enthusiastic and professional approach
- Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Confidence handling cash and card transactions
- Experience in a heritage attraction, cultural venue, place of worship or charitable organisation would be advantageous but is not essential.
