Bristol Cathedral are looking to recruit a full time Deputy Head Verger. The verger team is at the heart of the Cathedral’s operational and liturgical life. The team are responsible for supporting the Dean, Residentiary Canons and other clergy to carry out their roles, which will include overseeing the delivery of the practical arrangements for services. The Vergers are also a key part of our warm welcome and oversee practical arrangements that ensure the smooth running of the Cathedral throughout the week – including for general visiting, concerts and events.

As the Deputy Head Verger you will provide oversight and leadership within the team, supporting and reporting to the Head Verger. There is a genuine occupational requirement that the Deputy Head Verger is a communicant member of the Church of England, or a Church in communion with the Church of England, or a Church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.

Hours: 40 hours per week on Rota basis including regular weekends and evenings (8 hour per day plus unpaid hour for lunch break).

Pay: £33,580 per annum.
