Bristol Airport is looking for a Lead Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team during an exciting period of growth.
Reporting to the Engineering Duty Manager, the Lead Shift Engineer will be part of a team providing both reactive and planned engineering, maintenance and technical support across Bristol Airport. The role is responsible for helping to ensure airport systems, services and assets are maintained to the highest standards, supporting a safe, efficient and compliant operation. The successful candidate will also support the Engineering Duty Manager with the day-to-day coordination of departmental activities.
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a recognised qualification in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and experience working with High Voltage (HV) Electrical Installations.
Shift Pattern
This is a full time shift-based role, working 2 days, 2 nights 4 on 4 off. Annual leave is scheduled to support operational requirements, with flexibility available for emergency leave requests and shift swaps where possible. Further details can be provided before or during the interview process.

£59,069.23 per annum
What you’ll bring
- Experience working with High Voltage Electrical Installations and completion of a recognised apprenticeship as a Maintenance Electrician or Mechanical Engineer.
- Ability to coordinate and support a team while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and performance.

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Coordinate shift workloads and provide cover for the Engineering Duty Manager when required.
- Maintain electrical and mechanical systems, including HV/LV distribution, baggage handling, HVAC, fire alarms and emergency lighting.
- Monitor contractor activities and ensure work is completed safely and compliantly.
- Complete inspections, fault finding and preventative maintenance activities.
- Support operational teams by providing technical advice and updates.
