Job Responsibilities
- Support the operational delivery of the IUC service across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
- Provide team leadership and high quality line management to operational teams within the service.
- Provide base management for a Severnside treatment centre.
- Provide senior operational management, supervision and quality assurance to shifts to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained across the service.
- Work effectively with Shift Managers when on duty to ensure that arrangements for operational management of shifts are fit for purpose.
- Ensure that the work undertaken by all team members while on duty supports high standards of patient care and excellent patient satisfaction.
- Have responsibility for the line management of all members of staff in the team.
- Ensure that staff are appropriately supervised and supported in undertaking their allocated duties.
- Lead specific HR issues and risks in line with BrisDoc policy and with the support of the People team; carry out performance, disciplinary, sickness, grievance meetings with support from Ops Leads.
- Manage the performance of team members and ensure that individual and team performance supports service delivery in line with required standards and the Code of Expectations.
- Coordinate the team rota and ensure that all shifts are covered; plan contingencies for unexpected absence that may impact shift cover; ensure rota management is undertaken efficiently.
- Implement process management: ensure staff follow agreed standard operating procedures; identify improvements; use lean thinking methods where appropriate; contribute to effective working partnerships with other health care teams.
- Develop effective internal staff communications; conduct regular 1:1s with the team; be accessible and available at bases; ensure staff receive feedback and information in a timely manner; ensure staff feel valued and appreciated.
- Lead on induction, training and development of operational staff; identify training needs; ensure statutory and mandatory training is up-to-date; contribute to induction of clinical staff when required.
- Support the Ops Lead/Head of IUC in managing projects for service improvement and development; support new initiatives and change management.
- Participate in a regular on-call rota, providing timely support and assistance outside of regular working hours as needed.
- Develop robust processes to ensure safe and effective operational management of the base; build good working relationships with external partners; lead operational role development and team meetings; lead on key areas such as Learning Events, Co-Owner suggestions, Health and Wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience of leading others to achieve specified objectives.
- Experience of working in a professional environment that requires high standards of customer service.
- Good general level of education including GCSE equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
- Able to use own initiative and solve problems quickly.
- Organised and systematic.
