This is an exciting time to join BrisDoc, and to work in healthcare. Innovation has never mattered more. Done well, digital and technology can make care safer, faster and more joined-up for our communities, every single day.
We are recruiting an Interim Head of Digital and Technology to lead purposeful modernisation while keeping our 24/7 digital foundations secure, reliable and resilient. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and sitting on our Extended Leadership Team, you will have real scope to shape priorities, bring clarity to risk and assurance, and build momentum across the organisation.
Who we are looking for
This is a senior, high-autonomy role with clear accountability for outcomes that materially affect service delivery and organisational risk. You will bring:
- Senior digital/technology leadership experience with organisation-wide impact.
- Strong operational IT leadership, including service continuity in complex or 24/7 environments.
- Pragmatic use of recognised frameworks (for example ITIL, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
- Experience translating strategy into clear, prioritised plans and delivering improvements.
- Budget, contract and supplier management with a value-for-money mindset.
- Strong understanding of information governance, data protection and cyber security in regulated environments.
- Experience providing clear assurance on performance, risk and compliance to senior leaders and/or Boards.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, able to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
Desirable: experience in healthcare, primary care or a similarly regulated public service environment, and/or understanding of NHS or NHS-adjacent contexts.
Why join BrisDoc?
Make a lasting impact
Digital and technology underpins care for our patients and supports colleagues across urgent care and general practice. This role gives you a clear line of sight between your work and real-world outcomes.
Autonomy with support
You will work closely with the CEO and senior clinical and operational leaders, with influence through the Extended Leadership Team. You will be trusted to bring a clear view of what matters most, and to challenge constructively when needed.
A values-led, co-owner culture
As an employee-owned social enterprise, we put people and purpose first. We are deeply committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, sustainability and innovation, and we want you to thrive here as a co-owner.
What you will lead
You will provide organisation-wide leadership for digital and technology, including:
- Shaping and delivering BrisDoc's digital and technology strategy, aligned to organisational priorities and growth ambitions.
- Defining a clear digital, data and technology architecture, backed by a realistic, costed roadmap.
- Keeping BrisDoc's infrastructure secure, reliable and resilient, supporting 24/7 service delivery.
- Setting and overseeing service levels across infrastructure, applications and end-user support.
- Leading cyber security arrangements, including relevant accreditations and proactive cyber risk management.
- Ensuring robust information governance, so data is used lawfully, securely and effectively.
- Overseeing the maintenance and development of applications, keeping them supportable, secure and aligned to operational need.
- Ensuring data design and use supports operational insight, performance management and strategic decision-making.
- Managing digital and technology budgets with the Commercial and Finance Director, ensuring value for money.
- Leading suppliers and contracts as an intelligent client, holding providers to account and advising on internal vs third-party delivery.
- Line managing and developing digital, data and technology colleagues, and building strong working relationships across clinical, operational and corporate teams.
We have in-house expertise and also draw on specialist external suppliers for expert infrastructure development.
