We are currently seeking an experienced Farrier / Track & Grounds (T&G) Maintenance Attendant to join our Racing team.
This unique dual-role position plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, presentation and performance of our race meetings and facilities.
As our Farrier, you will:
- Inspect and reshoe horses at race starts as directed by the Starter/Assistant Starter/QRIC
- Inspect and reshoe horses between races as required
- Inspect horses entering the mounting yard pre-race
- Provide farrier services during barrier trials
- Maintain all farrier tools and equipment
Outside of race days and trials, you will contribute as a T&G Maintenance Attendant, supporting the upkeep and presentation of our tracks and grounds to a world-class standard, applying horticultural best practice and adhering to WH&S policies and procedures. This is a hands-on, varied role requiring flexibility, professionalism and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
You will bring:
- Cert III in Farriery (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience
- Strong knowledge of farrier and horse handling methods specific to thoroughbreds
- Demonstrated understanding of safe equipment operation and PPE requirements
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the thoroughbred racing industry (highly regarded)
Flexibility is essential, as racing and event activities may occur across weekends, evenings and public holidays.
