Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the outcomes required within the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme, with focus on the ‘Learn to Swim’ framework (Learn to Swim Stages 1-7).
- Apply the ‘Brio Learn 2 Swim Scheme of Work’, in accordance with the week number of each lesson cycle.
- Deliver swimming lessons in accordance with the levels/stages outlined in the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme.
- Assume responsibility of a Level 1 ‘assistant teacher’ where necessary and utilise to maximum learning effect, in accordance with the agreed aims and outcomes of the lesson.
- Demonstrate a range of teaching skills for participant communication, learning styles and feedback, in order to facilitate and enhance the learning process.
- Maintain participant weekly attendance registers.
- Update participant achievement records as required.
- Engage in a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Participate in self-assessment, peer observation, and Aquatics Lead observation as part of ongoing self-development.
- Liaise with participants, parents and Aquatics Lead as required.
- Carry out any other duties as requested by the Aquatics Lead, Aquatics Officer or Duty Manager appropriate to the needs of the service.
