Level 1 & Level 2 Swim Teachers - Brio Winsford

Hours of work: Casual as and when required

Contract type: Temporary

Salary: Level 1£12.30 per hour plus holiday accrual & Level 2 £14.66 per hour plusholiday accrual

We are looking for SEQ (Swim England Qualified) or equivalent Level 1 and Level 2 swimming teachers, preferably with an NPLQ or NRASTC qualification (although not essential), to help us provide the highest quality swimming lessons and aquatic sessions for people of all ages and abilities.

We’re looking for people with good communication skills who are able to deliver the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim Programme’. So, if you are passionate, highly motivated, have a love of swimming and are interested in joining a dedicated team then we would love to meet you!

Main responsibilities

  • Adhere to both Health and Safety, and Brio Leisure Operating Procedures.
  • Check that the teaching environment is suitable for use and free of potential hazards.
  • Allow for enough time for ‘set up’ before commencement of the lesson.
  • Ensure the safe use and storage of equipment so that a hazard free environment is maintained.
  • Contribute towards prompt timekeeping of the daily lesson programme, including efficient running of class changeovers.
  • Teach a range of organised aquatic disciplines at appropriate levels/stages of ability including: swimming; lifesaving; synchronised swimming; diving and water-polo, in accordance with the needs of the service.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the outcomes required within theSwim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme, with focus on the ‘Learn to Swim’ framework (Learn to Swim Stages 1-7).
  • Apply the ‘Brio Learn 2 Swim Scheme of Work’, in accordance with the week number of each lesson cycle.
  • Deliver swimming lessons in accordance with the levels/stages outlined in theSwim England‘Learn to Swim’ programme.
  • Where necessary, assume responsibility of a Level 1 ‘assistant teacher’ and utilise to maximum learning effect, in accordance with the agreed aims and outcomes of the lesson.
  • Demonstrate a range of teaching skills for: participant communication, learning styles and feedback, in order to facilitate and enhance the learning process.
  • Maintain participant weekly attendance registers.
  • Update participant achievement records as required.
  • Be prepared to engage in a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Self-assessment, peer observation, Aquatics Leadobservation as part of ongoing self-development.
  • Liaise with: participants, parents and Aquatics Leadas required.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Aquatics Lead, Aquatics Officeror Duty Manager appropriate to the needs of the service.
