Job Description
Power BI Developer Central Government
Rate: 480 / day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 3 months to begin with (expected to me 18 month project)
Location: Remote

Overview
Were looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to join a central government client. The role will focus on building optimising and maintaining interactive BI dashboards and data models that deliver actionable insights to senior stakeholders across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards aligned with departmental KPIs and operational needs.
- Transform cleanse and model complex datasets from multiple sources (SQL Server Excel SharePoint APIs etc.).
- Implement DAX calculations and data visualisations following best practices for usability and performance.
- Work closely with analysts data engineers and business leads to gather requirements and ensure data accuracy.
- Optimise Power BI dataflows and dataset refresh performance.
- Ensure compliance with Government Digital Service (GDS) and data governance standards.
- Support documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer within central government or wider public sector environments.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop Power Query (M) and DAX.
- Proficient with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience integrating data from multiple structured / unstructured sources.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Services (Data Lake Synapse or Data Factory).
- Understanding of data governance information security and GDPR in government contexts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
