Overview
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a large-scale NHS digital programme focused on data integration and API-driven transformation. You will be working with cross-functional teams including data engineers, developers, and product managers to shape and deliver solutions that improve interoperability, insights, and outcomes across the healthcare ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in NHS projects, an understanding of data flows and standards, and experience working on API-led platforms within complex public sector environments.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Lead business analysis activities across API and data integration projects.
- Gather, refine, and document requirements from clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear technical specifications and user stories.
- Map existing and future-state data flows, identifying dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Support end-to-end delivery — from discovery and design through to testing and assurance.
- Ensure all outputs align with NHS data governance and interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, etc.).
- Act as the bridge between business users, suppliers, and engineering teams.
- Proven Business Analysis experience on NHS or wider public sector digital projects.
- Strong understanding of data-driven systems, APIs, and integration projects.
- Experience producing documentation such as process maps, data models, and user stories.
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and digital transformation principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with FHIR / HL7 or other NHS interoperability standards.
- Understanding of cloud environments (AWS / Azure).
- Experience working alongside data engineering or analytics teams.
- Knowledge of NHS assurance, IG, and programme governance frameworks.
