Data Engineer in Leeds

Location: Remote – will need to collect kit day-1 in Leeds

We are currently supporting a consultancy who are on the lookout for an Azure Data Engineer to join a high-profile public sector programme on an initial 3-month rolling contract. This role will play a key part in designing, developing and maintaining robust data solutions across both legacy and modern cloud-based systems.

This is a hands‑on engineering role suited to someone comfortable working in complex, regulated environments and delivering scalable, production‑grade data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain ETL pipelines across legacy and modern data platforms
• Build and optimise data workflows using Azure Data Factory
• Develop scalable data solutions within Microsoft Azure
• Support Power BI reporting by delivering high-quality, well‑modelled datasets
• Collaborate with architects, analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Ensure data quality, governance and security standards are maintained

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services
• Proven expertise with Azure Data Factory
• Solid experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines
• Experience working with Azure Data Lake and related storage solutions
• Power BI data modelling and backend support experience
• Experience implementing CI/CD for data projects
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric (essential)
• Experience working within the public sector
• Strong understanding of data governance and working in regulated environments
• Experience integrating legacy systems into modern Azure environments
• Knowledge of DevOps practices in Azure
• Familiarity with security and compliance standards within public sector environments
