Consulting Director – AI/ML Engineering

Brio Digital is supporting a leading organisation at the forefront of AI innovation to hire an AI Engineering Director – A unique chance to combine engineering expertise, people leadership and senior-level consulting to deliver AI solutions that improve an industry vertical at scale.
Applicants must either hold, or be eligible for, UK Security Clearance (SC).
The Role
- Provide technical authority across multiple large-scale AI/ML programmes, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and production-ready.
- Set the engineering standards, ways of working, and technical excellence benchmarks for teams.
- Lead and grow teams of engineers and data scientists, supporting career development and fostering a culture of delivery excellence.
- Operate as a senior consultant, engaging with C-suite and senior government stakeholders to shape strategy, scope projects, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Partner with commercial leaders to identify opportunities, build propositions, and support business growth.
What We’re Looking For
- A proven technology leader with a deep engineering background (system architecture, ML/AI deployment, full-stack fundamentals).
- Experience taking AI/ML solutions from concept into production in real-world settings.
- Strong people leadership skills, with a track record of building, mentoring and inspiring high-performing technical teams.
- Ability to operate as a trusted senior advisor, confident in consulting with stakeholders and communicating complex concepts with clarity.
