We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of core financial accounting activities including balance sheet management, month-end close, statutory reporting support and audit preparation.
This is a great opportunity for a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant who enjoys hands-on financial accounting and wants to further develop their technical expertise in a collaborative, improvement-focused environment.
What you'll be doing
- Manage the fixed asset register, including capitalisation, depreciation and disposals
- Prepare and post month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, leases and adjustments)
- Produce weekly cash flow reporting
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving variances
- Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare intercompany matrices
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting in line with accounting standards
- Prepare VAT and Corporation Tax workings
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year-end close
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Act as a first point of contact for finance-related queries from non-finance teams
- Provide clear financial analysis and explanations to support decision-making
- Work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider business
- Use finance systems and Excel to maintain accurate financial records
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency
- Support finance transformation or system-improvement initiatives
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects as required
What we're looking for
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong understanding of core financial accounting principles
- Experience in a finance or accounting role (practice or industry)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Confident communicator with good stakeholder-management skills
- Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
