We are seeking a qualified and motivated Geophysicist to join our team at Brimstone UXO. In this role, you will be responsible for processing, analysing and interpreting geophysical data to identify potential unexploded ordnance (UXO) items and support safe project delivery. Working closely with engineering teams and internal staff, you will help translate complex datasets into clear technical outputs that inform decision-making for clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience in near-surface geophysics, strong data interpretation skills, and familiarity with common geophysical processing software. Attention to detail, analytical thinking and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a project team are essential for success in this role.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Acquire, process, quality control and interpret geophysical datasets for UXO risk mitigation projects.
  • Produce dig lists, anomaly maps, interpretation grids and technical reporting outputs.
  • Support field survey teams with geophysical data processing.
  • Contribute technical input to project planning, survey design and tender submissions.
  • Liaise with clients and internal project teams as necessary/appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and data management standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new geophysical methodologies and technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree (BSc or MSc) in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in near-surface geophysics or UXO detection.
  • Strong experience using geophysical processing software (e.g. Oasis montaj, Sonarwiz, QGIS, Autocad and GIS platforms).
  • Experience processing magnetometry or EM datasets is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret geophysical datasets and produce technical outputs for reporting.
  • Willingness to work away from home from time to time, depending on project requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.

Competitive salary depending on experience. Gym membership (if wanted and subject to P11D). Private medical insurance (if wanted and subject to P11D). 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
