The Role
You will be an experienced legal project manager and will support the transactions practices with the delivery of large and complex matters, and also with the developing of new tools and processes to support matter management. You will drive behavioural changes as well as advising and influencing client / senior stakeholder decision making.
Responsibilities
- Legal Project Management
Supporting the planning, scoping and management of multi-jurisdictional and complex client engagements focusing on client experience and service delivery, and work with clients directly. Ensure that internal Digital services team and third-party suppliers are used effectively. Prepare project management documents, for example: timelines and project plans, budgets, scopes of the work, as well as communication and stakeholder plans. Encourage legal project management techniques being integrated into the practice groups by utilising the proper deployment, technology and management of the firm’s self-service as well as other resources. The professional and proactive management of project change, scope expansion and risk; the main point of contact for the partner and/or client in relation to these matters. Advise on the selecting, configuring and implementing of Legal Project Management system solutions in order to support the needs of lawyers and assist with developing “dashboards” and reports for stakeholders. You will be the primary point of contact for the legal team and be responsible for the production of tailored pre-engagement pitch and pricing materials. Participate in RFPs and client pitches as required in order to design and describe the firm’s principles and LPM approach.
- Process Improvement / Innovation
Collaborate with experts as required within Digital Legal Delivery. Preparing process maps in respect of matters, work types and processes that relate to them as well as facilitating mapping sessions where appropriate; data collection, analysis and management; implementation of process improvements and controls.
- People Responsibilities
Effectively manage at least one team member in assisting with the delivery of outcomes; set clear deliverables and objectives for the members of the team as well as actively monitoring them and reporting their performance.
Skills / Qualifications
- Essential
5 years of experience and either: an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience within a global law firm or other established professional services organisation, managing the delivery of complex professional service mandates, or a qualified lawyer with experience of managing legal work, end to end. Experience leading and managing large delivery teams and complex projects. Understand the legal process and the typical work product within the environment of a law firm. Strong interpersonal skills for professional, courteous and diplomatic communication both in person and by email or telephone. Strong understanding of the financial framework of a law firm, remuneration models and performance indicators. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organisational, technical and facilitation skills. Experience using a Financial Practice Management System (such as Elite or Aderant Expert). Strong systems skill across MS Office 365 suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Visio are necessary) and able to quickly pick up new systems.
- Desirable
Formal qualification in project management (such as PRINCE2, Agile, PMP). Strong working knowledge of SharePoint and HighQ as a tool for workflow/project management. Experience of working with a combination of legal technologies, such as with automation and AI, collaboration software.
