This is a hands-on BA/PM role responsible for driving the end-to-end packaging, testing, compliance, and release of business applications in a large, highly regulated corporate environment. The role works closely with application owners, security & compliance teams, SCCM/Intune engineers, test teams and offshore packaging factories (primarily India and Eastern Europe).
Essential Requirements
- Deep knowledge of the full application packaging & release lifecycle in an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience taking an application from request → business case → vendor engagement → packaging (MSI/App-V/MSIX/IntuneWin) → compatibility testing → security & compliance sign-off → pilot → production rollout → BAU handover.
- Strong understanding of corporate packaging tools (e.g., Microsoft SCCM/MECM, Intune).
- Experience of modern management approaches (Intune, Autopilot, Evergreen updates, MSIX packaging).
- Highly self-motivated and proactive – this is non-negotiable.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal day-to-day supervision in an environment where formal knowledge transfer and documentation is limited.
- Comfortable proactively seeking out subject-matter experts across the organisation, arranging your own workshops, chasing stakeholders and driving progress independently.
- Evidence of building your own network and personal knowledge base in previous roles.
- Strong knowledge of application compliance, licensing and security standards in a corporate setting.
- Familiarity with audit requirements (SOX, ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus etc.) as they apply to end-user applications.
- Ability to interpret and apply Group Policy, AppLocker, WDAC, Intune App Protection Policies and Conditional Access.
- Proven experience of successfully managing offshore packaging and testing resources.
- Day-to-day coordination of offshore factories (typically 5–time-zone difference).
- Ability to write crystal-clear packaging briefs, test scripts and acceptance criteria that survive language barriers and “lost in translation” issues.
- Experience of dealing with cultural differences, humour, varying English proficiency and still delivering on time.
- Comfortable running early-morning or late-evening calls when required.
Additional Skills & Experience (Strongly Preferred)
- Formal Business Analysis skills – requirements gathering, process mapping (BPMN/Visio).
- Significant practical PM experience running multiple packaging streams concurrently.
- Experience of change & release management processes (ITIL or equivalent), ServiceNow or Jira.
- Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Batch, VBScript) to support packaging and self-service.
- Virtualisation experience (App-V sequencing, MSIX conversion, Citrix or AVD published apps).
Personal Attributes
- Exceptional communication skills – able to explain complex technical packaging issues to non-technical business stakeholders and vice-versa.
- Resilience and diplomacy when managing conflicting priorities and offshore delivery challenges.
- Meticulous attention to detail (one incorrect transform or custom action can break 20,000 devices).
- “Gets things done” attitude with a track record of delivering on commitments even when the environment is unstructured.
