The opportunity
You’ll join a Direct Sales team that’s being built with structure, pace and standards, backed by leadership that cares about process, data, and giving salespeople the tools to win.
- A big pool of target customers (SME / mid-market)
- A straightforward proposition: save money on energy, quickly and transparently
- A modern sales set-up (Salesforce now; enablement tools being rolled out)
- The freedom to be in the field, networking and creating pipeline
What you’ll be doing (new business only)
- Win new customers through a mix of outbound prospecting, inbound leads, referrals and events
- Own the full sales cycle: first conversation → discovery → proposal → negotiation → signed contract
- Sell consultatively to decision-makers: owners, Finance, Ops
- Build credibility fast with clear, needs-led conversations
- Represent the business at networking events and industry forums to generate relationships and pipeline
- Keep activity and opportunities accurate in Salesforce (sales hygiene matters here)
- Work smoothly with internal teams to ensure a clean handover once the deal is signed
Deal shape: Typically 2-year contracts with a 1–3 month sales cycle. Target: circa £750k annual contract value (ACV) across your book.
What “good” looks like in this role
- Consistent pipeline generation (quality as well as volume)
- Predictable conversion from opportunity to signed agreement
- Strong pace and follow-up discipline
- Clean CRM and a professional standard in every customer interaction
- Sharing market insight to improve targeting, messaging and conversion
What we’re looking for
- Proven B2B new business experience (SME and/or mid-market)
- Comfortable in a high-activity environment: calls, outreach, meetings, events
- Confident running multiple deals in parallel and moving them forward
- Commercial, organised, and motivated by performance (and earning well)
- Happy being field-led with hybrid working (you’ll need to be within easy commuting distance of the office base)
- You do not need energy sector experience; the manager is open to background if you’ve got the right sales DNA.
- This role is not for candidates who want renewals-only, account management, or customer service-led positions.
Tools, enablement & how the team is evolving
- Salesforce CRM is in place
- Sales enablement tooling being implemented (e.g., Salesloft / Outreach style)
- A data-led approach to improving outcomes (touchpoints, sequencing, templates)
