We are looking for an experienced, reliable and creative Pastry Chef to join our team and help deliver an outstanding Afternoon Tea experience for our guests. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and supportive environment where your skills, creativity, and attention to detail will be valued and encouraged. You will play a key role in preparing a wide range of high-quality pastries, cakes, and sweet treats, while also contributing fresh ideas and innovative recipes to enhance our menu.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of cakes, pastries, sweets, etc. following traditional and modern recipes
  • Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
  • Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc.
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
  • Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient cooking station, ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Organizing and leadership skills
  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Food and Safety Certificate
