This role is being advertised by Brightwork Ltd and we require a Weekend Cafe Assistant for our client's busy cafe in the EH5 area of Edinburgh.

Your Time at Work

Hours of work are Saturday and Sunday.

Main duties include:

  • Setting up the till in the morning / cashing up the till in the afternoon.
  • Entering payments into the till.
  • Set up breakfast at the counter and fill the chilled cabinets.
  • Serve breakfast.
  • Clear counter after breakfast.
  • Set up for lunch.
  • Serve lunch, including heating paninis and toasties.
  • Clean and tidy after lunch.
  • Keep serving area clean and stocked.
  • Keep tea / coffee area clean and stocked, including the coffee machine, cutlery, serviettes etc.
  • Regularly clear and clean tables in the Café.
  • Remove dirty plates etc. to the pan wash area within the kitchen, ready to be washed by staff.
  • Put away clean crockery and cutlery.

Our Perfect Worker

  • This role will require you to comply with relevant Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene regulations - ideally have a Food Hygiene certificate or formal Food hygiene training.
  • Excellent people skills as will be working with the public.
  • A good communicator.
  • Willingness to work as part of the wider Catering Team.
  • Numerate (as this will involve till work).
  • Able to prioritise when the Café is busy.
  • Willingness to undertake training in the operation of equipment within the Café.
