Brightwork are currently working on behalf of our client, a well-established healthcare organisation to recruit a Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical/Electrical) to join their Estates team covering Oban and the wider North Argyll estate. The successful candidate will be required to take part in an on-call rota, each on-call week consists of 9 sessions (evenings and weekends) and is paid per session, with any call-outs paid at enhanced rates of 1.5x standard pay and double time on public holidays. The role is 36 hours per week, with working hours set as Monday to Thursday, 08:00-16:00, and Friday, 08:00-14:30.
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will deliver both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of building services systems in a live healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical plant including HVAC, boilers, water systems, generators, lifts, and BMS
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and breakdown response
- Deliver PPM schedules and ensure statutory compliance
- Perform PAT testing and assist with commissioning of new equipment
- Support minor installations, upgrades, and improvement works
- Follow all health & safety, risk assessment, and permit-to-work procedures
- Update job records and manage materials/tools efficiently
- Supervise assistants, liaise with contractors, and support site operations
- Take part in an on-call rota and respond to emergency situations
- Qualified mechanical or electrical engineer (apprenticeship / NVQ / City & Guilds)
- Experience in building services, facilities, or estates maintenance
- Strong fault-finding skills across plant and equipment
- Good understanding of health & safety and compliance
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- IT literate (CAFM experience desirable)
