We are recruiting on behalf of a public sector client for a qualified Greenkeeper to support the maintenance of six high-quality bowling greens. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to play a key role in delivering exceptional playing surfaces for the local community. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the greens to a consistently high standard, ensuring optimal playing conditions throughout the season. A driving licence is essential for this role.
Your Time at Work
- Maintain and prepare all six bowling greens to a high standard
- Carry out mowing, verticutting, aeration, top dressing, fertilisation, and seeding programmes
- Ensure greens are presented and prepared for play, including rink marking and general upkeep
- Monitor turf health and implement treatments for pests, weeds, and diseases
- Operate and maintain specialist turf care machinery and equipment
- Assist with irrigation and drainage maintenance
- Carry out routine maintenance of surrounding areas, including pathways and landscaped spaces
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times
Our Perfect Worker
- Recognised qualification in Greenkeeping, Sports Turf, or Horticulture
- Previous experience maintaining fine turf, ideally bowling greens or similar surfaces
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Strong understanding of fine turf management techniques
- Experience using a range of grounds maintenance machinery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Happy to work in all weather conditions throughout the year
- Must be happy to go through Disclosure checks in line with requirements from Public Sector
Desirable Skills & Experience
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates
- Experience working within a public sector or local authority environment
- Knowledge of bowling green maintenance standards and seasonal requirements
- Additional machinery or turf care certifications
