This role is for a Weekend Cafe Manager for a busy cafe in the EH5 area of Edinburgh.
Your Time at Work
Hours of work are Saturday and Sunday 0930-1630.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- On-site and Bought in Goods
- Maintain effective day to day organisation of goods by restocking from kitchen stores or gift shop supplies, flagging up when re-ordering is required.
- Check off deliveries, price-label stock, warehouse stock, and order food stock.
- Keep stock levels appropriate and manage stock turn-over.
- Liaise with the kitchen and Cafe manager as required.
- The Cafe & Shop
- Prepare the rota for the shop to provide necessary cover and deal with any changes to ensure adequate staffing.
- Liaise with other Hospice teams as required for effective running.
- Serve customers and help keep the cafe clean and tidy.
- Volunteers and Staff
- Organise the monthly rota, keeping it updated when call-offs occur.
- Train and motivate volunteers to ensure good food hygiene practices are adhered to.
- Systems
- Minimise controllable costs and shrinkage at all times.
- Ensure operational systems and procedures are adhered to effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain health and safety standards within the area at all times.
- Keep all areas of the premises clean and tidy.
- Administration
- General administration using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Order food goods as required and support sales of all products in the Cafe and shop.

Our Perfect Worker
- Educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) in English and Maths or able to demonstrate competence in these areas.
- Food handling experience.
- Experience in using software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases.
- Retail background with a minimum of 1 year’s experience.
- Ability to manage and plan rotas.
- Some experience working in an office-based support role dealing with a variety of tasks.
- Flexibility in working pattern to ensure the cafe is always staffed.
- Experience of working with distressed customers.
- Good organisation and prioritising skills.
- Good interpersonal customer service skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skills/experience in stock management and pricing of stock and food.
- Experience of merchandising or displaying stock and food.
- Experience dealing with cash and card payments.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with queries.
- Keeping payment details secure and confidential.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and frequently work on several tasks at once.
