Our clients were pioneers in bringing strength-graded British structural timber to the UK construction industry, and with a significant expansion plan, we are supporting them in finding the talent that will take them into the next phase of major development and beyond, driving greener strategic objectives.
A competitive salary and fantastic benefits package are available for the perfect candidate. Standard hours are 07:00 to 16:30 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday, although flexibility at a management level is expected.
Priorities will focus on health and safety, operational output, quality and efficiency across your areas of responsibility. A strong communicator and a key advocate for engagement with internal stakeholders, the workforce and external suppliers and customers is essential. You must be agile in an ever-changing environment.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Foster a positive culture around health and safety to ensure adherence throughout the site to Health and Safety legislation and Company/People Policy.
- Line management, coaching and leadership for supervisors of the secondary processing operations and their respective teams.
- Driving continuous improvement in operational effectiveness, efficiency and production output.
- Oversee the day-to-day workflow, ensuring that production targets, standards and service levels are achieved.
- Assisting the Site Manager in fostering a culture within the sawmill of hard work, positivity and good communication.
- Identify trends, respond creatively and timeously to resolve issues and maximise opportunities to improve operations.
Skills and Experience required:
- Current and relevant experience in a management role within production/processing.
- Substantial experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of continuous improvement in a production environment, with a successful track record in implementing successful change initiatives.
- A strong communicator who can positively influence at all levels.
- A comprehensive understanding and practice of Health & Safety legislation.
