The predicted salary is between 11 - 14 £ per hour.

Brightwork are recruiting for Catering Assistants to work across Glasgow and the surrounding area in Schools, Nurseries and Care Homes. Joining initially on a temporary basis, there will be a strong chance of permanency for the right workers.

Please note, that due to the regulated nature of these working environments, the successful candidates will be required to have a current PVG membership or be willing to apply for membership. Any PVG applications or updates would be payable by the successful candidate.

Working within busy school and nursery kitchens, the successful candidates will support with a number of duties including:

  • Preparation of hot and cold foods - following temperature guidelines
  • Serving food in line with hygiene procedures
  • Cleaning of kitchen, equipment and work areas
  • Assisting with the ordering of supplies, stock control and rotation
  • General duties as required

Experience within a kitchen environment is beneficial but not necessary as full training will be provided.

The successful candidates will:

  • Have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Have a friendly manner and be confident interacting with children, vulnerable adults and internal stakeholders
  • Have a basic understanding of food and personal hygiene standards

In return, you will have the opportunity to gain experience within a prestigious organisation with the strong possibility of a permanent role following review. You will receive a competitive hourly rate which is higher than the Scottish Living Wage which is paid weekly initially.
