This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional with strong leadership skills to manage a team while overseeing the successful delivery of payroll services across a varied client portfolio.
The Role
Reporting into senior management, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a payroll team, ensuring payrolls are delivered accurately, compliantly and on time. Alongside managing team performance, workloads and development, you will maintain responsibility for your own portfolio of payroll clients and act as an escalation point for complex payroll matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, lead and develop a team of Payroll Advisors, Analysts and Assistants
- Oversee day-to-day team performance, workload allocation and service delivery
- Conduct reviews, provide performance feedback and support team development
- Manage a portfolio of payroll clients and oversee end-to-end payroll processing
- Act as the escalation point for complex payroll and client queries
- Ensure payrolls are delivered accurately, compliantly and within agreed deadlines
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support process improvement initiatives and payroll projects
About You
- Proven experience in a senior payroll position
- Previous people management experience within a payroll environment
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
- Experience managing multiple payrolls and competing deadlines
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Bureau or accountancy practice experience would be advantageous
- Experience using IRIS, STAR or BrightPay payroll software is essential
