Due to significant growth our client is currently recruiting a Despatch Manager (Backshift) who will be responsible for overseeing all outbound logistics operations within a very busy food production environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily despatch operations, ensuring efficient and accurate order picking, packing, and loading
- Coordinate all outbound shipments to meet customer delivery schedules
- Monitor KPIs such as OTIF, picking accuracy, and vehicle turnaround times
- Ensure effective scheduling of despatch staff to meet demand
- Ensure full compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRCGS, Food Hygiene Regulations)
- Maintain traceability and accurate documentation for all goods dispatched
- Liaise with production, planning, and transport teams to coordinate smooth dispatch operations
- Manage Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a Despatch, Warehouse, or Logistics Manager role within the food or FMCG
- Strong understanding of food safety standards (BRC, HACCP, etc.)
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- IT literate with experience using WMS/ERP systems
