This role is for a Weekend Cafe Assistant in a busy cafe in the EH5 area of Edinburgh.

Hours of Work: Saturday and Sunday 09:30-16:30.

Main Duties Include:

  • Setting up the till in the morning / cashing up the till in the afternoon.
  • Entering payments into the till.
  • Setting up breakfast at the counter and filling the chilled cabinets.
  • Serving breakfast and clearing the counter after breakfast.
  • Setting up for lunch and serving lunch, including heating paninis and toasties.
  • Cleaning and tidying after lunch.
  • Keeping the serving area clean and stocked.
  • Maintaining the tea/coffee area, including the coffee machine, cutlery, serviettes, etc.
  • Regularly clearing and cleaning tables in the café.
  • Removing dirty plates to the pan wash area within the kitchen.
  • Putting away clean crockery and cutlery.

  • Complies with relevant Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene regulations – ideally has a Food Hygiene certificate or formal Food hygiene training.
  • Has excellent people skills as will be working with the public.
  • Is a good communicator.
  • Shows willingness to work as part of the wider Catering Team.
  • Is numerate (as this will involve till work).
  • Can prioritise when the café is busy.
  • Is willing to undertake training in the operation of equipment within the café.
  • Is willing to attend group supervision and continuing professional development updates.
  • Understands the work and values of the client.
  • Is willing to keep informed and stay updated about our work.

Key Information and Benefits: £15.09 per hour for Saturday and Sunday.
