Our client is currently recruiting a HSEQ Manager – Civils who will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) systems across civil engineering projects. You will ensure compliance with legislation, drive a positive safety culture, and support operational teams in delivering projects safely, sustainably, and to required quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all sites and offices
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and industry best practices
- Develop, implement, and maintain H&S policies, procedures, and risk management systems
- Carry out site audits, inspections, and accident investigations
- Advise management and site teams on risk mitigation and safe working practices
- Monitor incident trends and produce reports with corrective actions
- Ensure environmental compliance across all civil engineering activities
- Develop and implement environmental management systems (ISO 14001)
- Manage environmental risk assessments and sustainability initiatives
- Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders as required
- Ensure project delivery meets client specifications and industry standards
- Conduct internal audits and support external accreditation audits
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a SHEQ Manager role within civil engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of UK HSEQ legislation and CDM Regulations
- Ability to train staff
- Experience managing ISO systems (9001, 14001, 45001)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence and drive behavioural change on site
Please note that this role will be 5 days in office. You will be expected to cover sites in Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Central Belt and Edinburgh. You will be provided with company pool car and fuel car.
