As a SEND Tutor, you'll work closely with learners who need patience, understanding, and teaching approaches tailored entirely to them. You'll have the freedom to design sessions around their interests, strengths, and emotional needs, without the pressures of a classroom environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-person educational tuition to children and young people with SEND needs (at times, tuition is provided online; however, the majority is face-to-face).
- Plan, prepare, and teach a range of bespoke and student-centred lessons to ensure student engagement and progress.
- Establish SMART targets for all learners and regularly review progress against these.
- Design interventions that will support both the emotional and academic engagement of students.
- Safeguard the welfare of students, including following the defined safeguarding processes in line with our safeguarding policy.
- Ensure regular reporting of attendance, progress, and behavioural presentation relating to your students following each session.
- Carry out risk assessments of environments and activities to ensure student safety.
- Attendance and participation at multi-agency meetings and staff CPD opportunities.
Who we are looking for
- Qualified teachers with a teaching qualification (QTS) or practitioners with significant classroom experience.
- Significant experience supporting students with SEND in either the primary, secondary or college sector.
- Engaging educators who are knowledgeable, passionate, and have an understanding of how to engage and motivate learners who may have experienced challenges in their educational journey.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to have a DBS check taken out on you.
- The completion of safeguarding training/knowledge of safeguarding, and of creating a safe learning environment.
- Excellent subject knowledge.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
