Role Overview

  • We are seeking a pragmatic and detail‑oriented

Mechanic Engineer to join our team in Manchester, UK. You will play a key role in translating

Game Design Documents (GDDs) into testable rules and constraints , and in building and maintaining the tooling and automation that generates validation artefacts

(such as error lists, example scenarios, and datasets) for our interactive i Lottery products.

This role sits at the intersection of game design intent , implementation reality , and validation quality . You will work closely with Game Designers, SMEs, QA, and Engineers to ensure mechanics are consistently interpreted, testable, and auditable.

  • Responsabilities
  • Interpret Game Design Documents (GDDs) and translate design intent into clear, testable rules and constraints.
  • Create and maintain validation artefacts such as error lists, example scenarios (valid/invalid), and supporting datasets.
  • Provision mechanics for operators, including prize structures and configuration parameters, ensuring they meet customer requirements and are set up correctly and consistently.
  • Build and enhance internal mechanic validation tooling, primarily in Delphi, with supporting components in Java Script / Node. js.
  • Maintain and improve automation and CI pipelines (Jenkins/Groovy, Node. js) used to generate and validate mechanic artefacts.
  • Collaborate closely with Game Designers, SMEs, QA, and Engineers to clarify rules, resolve ambiguities, and ensure consistent interpretation.
  • Ensure validation outputs are accurate, deterministic, traceable, and audit‑friendly.
  • Contribute ideas for using AI‑assisted tooling to reduce manual effort in validation and audit preparation (human‑in‑the‑loop).

Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming concepts and software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience working with structured data formats (e. g. Excel, CSV, JSON).
  • Comfortable working in a mixed codebase and learning existing systems quickly.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A logical, methodical approach to problem‑solving with strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Delphi, or strong fundamentals in another language with the ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Experience with Java Script / Type Script, including Node. js.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, Groovy, and CI/CD automation.
  • Experience with build and dependency tooling (e. g. Yarn, NPM).
