Technical Safety Engineer – Fuel Cell & Electrolyser Industry | West Sussex
A key player in the fuel cell and electrolyser market is looking to bring on a Senior Safety Engineer to support its growing operations. The company is at an exciting stage of expansion, with a strong pipeline of innovative products and projects.
In this role, you will be – Technical Safety Engineer
- Assessing and identifying hazards as well as implementing control measures for fuel cell/electrolysis stacks, systems, and test stands.
- Developing and preparing safety case arguments alongside technical documentation.
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to create and formalise safety management plans.
- Overseeing the execution and documentation of all activities needed to support the safety case for product development or technology demonstration programs.
- Engaging with development and demonstration partners to ensure safety assurance for demos, pilots, and associated knowledge transfer under licence.
Experience Required – Technical Safety Engineer
- Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Chemical, Process Engineering or a related field.
- Strong experience in functional safety and regulatory compliance within highly regulated industries (e.g. IEC 61508, ISO 26262, IEC 61511).
- Hands-on expertise in risk assessment methodologies (including but NOT limited to HAZOP, FMEA, etc.).
- Open to different industry backgrounds including oil & gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy or related sectors.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and quality teams.
