This is a highly hands-on opportunity within a small, autonomous engineering team. You'll be responsible for turning early-stage ideas into working mechanical designs, getting involved in CAD, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and working with manufacturing to ensure designs can ultimately be scaled for production. We're looking for someone who is technically strong, practical and comfortable working independently. You'll be given an objective and expected to take ownership of working out how to achieve it, rather than simply being handed a defined task list.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of key components within a wider energy system
  • Take designs from early-stage concepts through CAD, prototyping, testing and validation
  • Develop 3D models, detailed drawings and technical specifications
  • Work closely with systems engineers to ensure mechanical components integrate effectively within the wider system
  • Support prototype builds and get hands-on with physical hardware
  • Diagnose technical issues and carry out root cause analysis
  • Develop component requirements and support testing to validate performance and reliability
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  • Consider future mass production and scalability when making design decisions
  • Support technical reviews, risk assessments and design improvements
  • Work with suppliers and external partners where required
  • Take ownership of mechanical engineering activities within a small, highly autonomous team
