This is an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to help transform prototype hardware into a reliable, scalable and manufacturable product.
The role will focus on improving designs for production, solving build challenges, working with suppliers and manufacturing partners, and establishing the processes needed to support commercial-scale production.
You will play a key role in bridging the gap between engineering design and real-world manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities – Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer
- Support the transition of electrochemical stack hardware from prototype development into scalable manufacturing.
- Review mechanical designs and provide input on manufacturability, assembly and production readiness.
- Improve product designs through Design for Manufacturing (Df M) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Support prototype builds, manufacturing trials and assembly optimisation.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to improve part quality, cost and repeatability.
- Develop manufacturing documentation including drawings, specifications, inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
- Define tolerances, quality requirements and inspection processes for mechanical components.
- Investigate build issues, failures and manufacturing challenges through structured root cause analysis.
- Support engineering change processes, design reviews and product improvements.
- Help establish scalable manufacturing processes as the company grows.
Experience & Skills – Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, product development or manufacturing engineering roles.
- Proven experience taking hardware from prototype through to production.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (Df M), Design for Assembly (DFA) and production optimisation.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T and quality requirements.
- Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers or external production partners.
- Hands-on experience supporting builds, testing and manufacturing problem solving.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing and supplier teams.
- Experience within energy technology, electrochemical systems, batteries, fuel cells or similar hardware is highly advantageous.
