Manufacturing Engineer | Low-Carbon Materials

Manchester | Full-time

Want to help take a new manufacturing process from development into industrial production?

I’m working with an early-stage low-carbon materials business looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to help establish and scale its pilot manufacturing facility.

You’ll shape how the factory operates, from equipment selection and layout through to commissioning, process improvement and production ramp-up. Working closely with the project and leadership teams, you’ll turn process requirements into safe, reliable and efficient manufacturing operations.

The role:

  • Develop factory layouts, production workflows and material-handling arrangements.
  • Translate process needs into equipment specifications, installation requirements and utilities.
  • Support equipment selection, supplier reviews, installation and commissioning.
  • Establish manufacturing procedures, support operator training and improve process consistency.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, identifying the causes of downtime, quality problems and production bottlenecks.
  • Improve throughput, equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency as production scales.

What we’re looking for:

Practical experience in manufacturing, production, mechanical or process engineering, with direct involvement in equipment installations, production-line development or manufacturing improvement projects.

You’ll be comfortable on the factory floor, reading technical drawings, working with suppliers and taking ownership of practical engineering challenges.

Experience in powder processing, chemicals, coatings, building materials, composites or other batch manufacturing environments would be useful, although we’re open to engineers from adjacent sectors.

A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent practical experience in a relevant engineering discipline would suit this role.

This is an opportunity to influence a manufacturing operation from the outset, see your ideas implemented and play a meaningful part in bringing a low-carbon technology into production.
