Brightsmith are pleased to partner with an innovative Hydrogen company developing pilot-scale sustainable process technologies. This hands-on role will focus on the design, implementation, and operation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for a first-of-a-kind pilot plant. Working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will support automation, sensor integration, commissioning, safety systems, and process scale-up activities. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering challenges within a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Develop PLC/IPC automation and control routines and integrate sensors, safety interlocks, and data acquisition systems.
- Support pilot plant build, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operation, contributing to system reliability scale-up activities.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Requirements:
Essential
- 5+ years' experience in electrical, controls, instrumentation, or automation engineering.
- Experience within industrial, manufacturing, process, or chemical environments.
- PLC/IPC programming and industrial automation experience.
- Knowledge of UK engineering regulations and standards.
- Experience with industrial process instrumentation and control hardware.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a startup environment.
Desirable
- Siemens, Allen-Bradley, PLC, DCS, or SCADA experience.
- Electrochemical, energy, or pilot plant experience.
- IIoT, Python, JavaScript, or Node-RED experience.
- Startup or scale-up environment experience.
