Overview
We are seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the technical function of a fast-growing hydrogen company. This is a leadership role with responsibility for shaping the engineering organisation, ensuring delivery of current projects, and building the team that will scale the business to gigawatt-level hydrogen production.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall technical leadership across development, FEED, and execution phases of hydrogen projects
- Manage and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team, including process, mechanical, electrical, and safety specialists
- Oversee the work of contractors and EPC partners, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions
- Act as the technical authority for projects, reviewing and approving designs and ensuring compliance with industry standards and HSE requirements
- Translate business needs into technical scope, schedules, and budgets, and ensure delivery against them
- Build and improve processes that enable efficient project delivery while keeping flexibility in a scale-up environment
- Mentor and develop engineers, promoting best practices and a culture of safety and collaboration
- Represent the technical function with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and partners
What we are looking for
- Strong background in engineering leadership within hydrogen, energy transition, oil and gas, industrial gases, or related process industries
- Proven experience managing contractors and multidisciplinary teams through FEED, FID, and EPC phases
- Ability to balance technical, commercial, and schedule requirements in a fast-paced startup environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience scaling teams and building high-performing technical organisations
