We are seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to play a key role in the development and delivery of biogas and biomethane projects. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on project development, technical leadership, and delivery rather than plant operations. The successful candidate will work across the full project lifecycle, collaborating closely with commercial, legal, and external partners to help shape technical solutions and ensure successful project outcomes. The role offers an opportunity to take ownership of major technical decisions, influence project strategy, and contribute to the growth of a fast-moving renewable energy business.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Project Strategy
- Provide technical leadership across biogas project development and delivery
- Support technology selection, design strategy, and engineering standards
- Contribute to bid evaluations and technical-commercial decision making
- Project Development & Engineering Management
- Oversee engineering activities from concept through detailed design
- Manage external consultants, contractors, and technology providers
- Review technical deliverables and support permitting and approvals
- Act as a technical representative during project execution
- Commercial & Risk Input
- Support contract structuring and technical risk assessment
- Contribute to EPC and technology discussions and negotiations
- Provide input into capex/opex assessments and project economics
- Delivery, Commissioning & Handover
- Support commissioning strategies and performance testing
- Help ensure projects meet technical and contractual requirements
- Contribute to documentation and readiness for operational handover
- Continuous Improvement
- Help develop repeatable engineering approaches and best practices
- Support portfolio growth and process improvement initiatives
Experience & Background
Essential
- Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, Environmental Engineering (or similar)
- 8–12 years’ experience in engineering, EPC, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors
- Experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Exposure to project delivery, contractors, and external consultants
- Strong technical judgement with commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Desirable
- Experience in biogas, biomethane, renewables, or process industries
- Experience working in Owner’s Engineer, client-side, or EPC environments
- Familiarity with commissioning, performance testing, or grid-connected systems
- Understanding of permitting, environmental compliance, or project finance
