Job Summary
Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Support Service Worker performs a variety of functions in both the Support Service and Food Service Departments. The role includes assembling trays, delivering and retrieving patient trays, serving, stocking and setting up food items and supplies in designated pantries, cleaning and maintaining the food preparation area, and performing cross‑functional duties as required. The worker also carries out housekeeping duties such as cleaning and disinfecting equipment and areas, distribution and collection of linens, waste and recycling materials, and project cleaning activities. Physical demands include considerable standing, bending, reaching, pushing, and transferring material. The position requires ability to lift, push, reach, load and unload items up to 50 lb with correct lifting techniques.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Food Safety Certification from a recognized source or willingness to obtain
- Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions
- Ability to work on your own or in a TEAM environment
- Ability to follow basic arithmetic calculations
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi‑task
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to meet physical demands lifting, pushing, reaching, loading and unloading and demonstrate correct lifting and carrying techniques for items weighing up to 50lb
- Ability to work independently or as a team
- Ability to work all shifts including weekends
- Willingness and ability to complete – code white training
- Ability to respond to all Brightshores contingency codes
- Basic computer skills required
- Knowledge and ability to meet Public health Standards in regards to Safe Food Handling Practices
- Knowledge of and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety and Infection control principles
- Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
