Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) and the Grey Bruce Palliative Medicine Group are inviting applications for a permanent Palliative Care Physician to join our dedicated, collaborative team serving patients and families across Grey and Bruce Counties. This is a rewarding opportunity to practice comprehensive, consultative, and shared-care palliative medicine across a diverse range of settings β including inpatient consultations, outpatient pain and symptom management clinics, community outreach, and a 9-bed residential hospice. Youβll be part of an experienced and collegial group of physicians committed to excellence in patient-centered care, education, and innovation.
About Brightshores Health System: Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals across the Grey Bruce region, with its Level 2 regional referral centre located in the City of Owen Sound. Brightshores offers a full complement of specialty services, including Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, and Urology). Our smaller rural hospitals in Lionβs Head, Markdale, Meaford, Southampton, and Wiarton provide essential inpatient, emergency, and ambulatory care services β ensuring integrated and accessible healthcare across the region.
About the Grey Bruce Palliative Medicine Group: Our team of six physicians with enhanced skills in palliative care provides comprehensive coverage across all sectors β hospitals, hospice, community, and long-term care. We offer home visits and 24/7 on-call support to patients in private residences, residential hospice, long-term care homes, and supportive housing environments. Together, we support a monthly roster of 100β120 community-based patients. We also have strong academic ties with Western University and McMaster University, offering exciting opportunities to teach and mentor residents in palliative medicine.
Qualifications:
- MD with CCFP, RCPSC, or equivalent certification
- Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care (CAC), Palliative Medicine Subspecialty, or equivalent training and experience
- Eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary care
Compensation:
Competitive remuneration through the Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) or Fee-for-Service (FFS) model, as preferred. Community Palliative Care On-Call (CPOC) funding available.
