About Rough Agenda

Rough Agenda produces brightonSEO, the largest search marketing event in the World. It takes place twice a year, usually in Spring and Autumn, centred on three days of training, conference and exhibition events in the Brighton Centre. brightonSEO San Diego takes place annually in September, with a move to a new venue at the San Diego Convention Centre for our 2026 event. Hero Conf is integrated into the brightonSEO events in the spring in the UK, and the US event in September. Alongside our events, we run a busy programme of training courses, parties, events and activities across multiple hotels, bars, and event spaces in central Brighton. For each event week, we welcome over 150 speakers, 40 sponsor partners, and more than 3000 delegates who travel from all over the UK and abroad.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Community & Editorial Manager to shape and grow the content and community around brightonSEO and Hero Conf. This role requires someone who understands both SEO and PPC and has the credibility to shape speaker programmes, represent us publicly, and help grow our community year-round. You might have spoken at industry conferences yourself or be the kind of person we’d expect to see on those stages. You’ll combine editorial judgement with community-building skills - part content strategist, part ambassador and advocate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Speaker Programme & Editorial
    • Work with Kelvin, our founder, to plan the call for speakers and shape conference agendas.
    • Review and shortlist speaker submissions, ensuring balance across SEO, PPC, and related disciplines.
    • Deliver a diverse and varied speaker line-up that reflects the values of Rough Agenda, prioritising new speakers and developing future generations of speakers and thought leaders.
    • Work with our commercial partners, sponsors and exhibitors.
    • Lead the deck reviews to ensure content is practical, non-salesy, and audience-focused. Act as the lead for QA on every presentation and talk at brightonSEO, Hero Conf and MeasureFest, providing actionable feedback on how speakers can revise their material.
    • Contribute to the evolution of new formats (masterclasses, workshops, hybrid content).
  • Community Building & Representation
    • Act as a recognised voice of the brand: represent us on podcasts, panels, video shorts, and at other industry events.
    • Take part in, and help lead, our growing number of community forums, WhatsApp groups, and online discussions.
    • Build and nurture relationships with speakers, agencies, tool vendors, and attendees.
    • Engage with our community year-round, not just during events.
  • Editorial & Content
    • Oversee PPC Hero editorial, commissioning and writing posts that serve the paid media community.
    • Collaborate with the team to produce blog posts, newsletters, and social media content.
    • Spot trends in SEO/PPC and shape programming accordingly.

About You

  • Strong understanding of both SEO and PPC, with the ability to speak confidently across both.
  • Credibility in the industry: you’ve spoken at, or are capable of speaking at, conferences like brightonSEO, Hero Conf, SMX, Women in Tech SEO, Pubcon, etc.
  • Excellent communicator and comfortable being a public face - whether that’s hosting a podcast, moderating a panel, or writing a blog post.
  • Editorially minded - you know what makes a good conference session and a strong piece of content.
  • Community-driven, approachable, and good at making connections across the industry.
  • Experience in digital marketing, ideally in an agency, in-house, or vendor role.

Working with Rough Agenda

Rough Agenda works as a fully remote team with a strong ethos of autonomous working. As long as you are delivering your work and have shared when you plan to be working and available, no-one will be monitoring exactly when you are logging on and off, allowing you to work flexibly around other commitments. You will be expected to record and report on where your time is spent using Toggl or equivalent. We have found that for this to work, it is essential that you are an excellent self-starter, motivated to learn quickly, happy to crack on under your own steam, and assured enough to ask for extra support from the team when needed. It is also important that you are happy to work remotely from your colleagues, with no central office. You will be calm, highly-organised, and able to accommodate and prioritise a workload which can increase significantly towards event time.

What You’ll Get

  • Remote-first role with a UK-based, collaborative team.
  • A creative but focused environment where new ideas are encouraged.
  • The chance to work closely with some of the biggest names in SEO and PPC.
  • Real ownership - your ideas and systems can help shape how we run our events.
  • Genuine opportunities to grow your career within our expanding events portfolio.
  • 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
  • Company pension scheme.

Applying & Anticipated Timeline
