Salary: £28,142 – £28,598.
Contractual hours: 37 per week.
Basis: Fixed Hours Package.
Responsibilities
- Respond to telephone calls from internal and external customers, providing accurate advice and resolving queries at first point of contact where possible.
- Manage and respond to emails and written enquiries from both internal and external customers in a timely, professional manner.
- Provide clear guidance on a range of Environmental Services, including household waste and recycling collections, missed collections and service requests, bulky waste, garden waste, communal bins, and environmental issues such as fly‑tipping, street cleanliness and graffiti.
- Use council systems to log, update and track customer requests, ensuring accurate information and follow‑through.
- Liaise with operational teams, supervisors and other council services to resolve queries and service issues.
- Escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately, following council procedures.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer service, equality and accessibility, ensuring all residents are treated fairly and respectfully.
- Support service improvement by identifying recurring issues and sharing feedback with managers and colleagues.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience maintaining and following administrative systems and processes.
- A positive approach to resolving problems and bringing creativity to working solutions.
- Proficiency with computers, IT systems and Microsoft applications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to respond to customers with assertiveness, tact, empathy and calm under pressure.
