We are one of the busiest unitary Highway Authorities and this role will be central to dealing with the transport development aspects of a range of exciting regeneration projects within the city; helping to deliver the aims of the ambitious City Plan and Local Transport Plan. As Principal Highway Agreements Engineer, you will: Ensure major developments provide adequate forms of transport for all users, focusing on sustainable travel and high-quality public realm. Lead on managing the safety and traffic management impacts of developer-led highway works and major building construction projects. Minimise any detrimental effect on the transport network and environment, meeting the diverse needs of our community and supporting the Council’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2030. Shape a new, expanded team to respond flexibly and efficiently to the development demands of the city. Influence the direction of development in the city and secure long-lasting highway improvements in one of England’s busiest unitary Transport services within easy reach of London. As the successful candidate, you will have: Technical engineering knowledge and skills. A keen focus on compliance and experience of negotiating legal agreements. A track record of implementing successful quality assurance processes and working collaboratively with others to ensure critical standards are met. Customer-focused communication skills that are inclusive and accessible. Experience in collaborating inclusively with a broad range of diverse groups. As a senior officer, you’ll work directly to the Highway Regulation Manager, helping set the strategic direction for City Transport and development in the city. You will be based in our modern, open-plan offices and benefit from flexible working, including home-working. Joining an enthusiastic and supportive team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues from a range of fields, working closely with the Planning service and Transport Project teams to deliver transport infrastructure changes across the city.
