Job description

Hill Park School is a three site (Primary/ Secondary) special school for pupils aged 4 - 16 years for pupils with needs ranging from moderate (MLD), severe (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). Some pupils also have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum condition (ASC), complex medical needs or physical disabilities. We have students from Reception through to KS4.

The Hive is Hill Park’s third site based in Hollingdean, Brighton. It is a secondary school provision for mainstream ability autistic young people with many having previously been home educated or having accessed tutoring packages due to barriers to school attendance.

At The Hive, students are supported to re-engage with learning, access an age-appropriate curriculum, and achieve GCSEs and other recognised secondary qualifications. We offer small class sizes with a focus on sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.

Due to an increase in classes in, we are looking to recruit a Part-Time Life Skills, Careers and PSHE Teacher for 3 days per week, with Food Technology teaching responsibilities for an additional 2 days per week, and who has a minimum of 2 years’ experience of teaching in a SEN school.

  • have Maths and English Qualifications at GCSE or equivalent
  • have a minimum of two year’s experience of working in a SEN school
  • have patience and a calm manner
  • have resilience and a commitment to meeting the needs of children with additional needs
  • are an excellent team player who is flexible and shows an ability to recognise and respond to pupils’ needs
  • can provide support to individuals and small groups
  • are able to manage a challenging environment, both physically and mentally
