Are you a qualified commercial property surveyor with strong valuation and professional expertise? Do you enjoy advising on complex property transactions and achieving best value outcomes? Are you motivated by using your technical knowledge to support strategic decisions and deliver public value? We are recruiting Senior Estates Surveyors to join our new Asset Disposals team within Strategic Property at Brighton & Hove City Council. You will play a key role in delivering a high-profile disposals programme, bringing professional expertise to maximise value and support the council’s financial and strategic priorities.

About the role
- Lead on a varied caseload of complex land and property disposals within a multi-million-pound programme.
- Provide professional advice on valuation, disposal strategy and market approach to inform decision-making.
- Undertake and oversee property appraisals, including commissioning and reviewing valuations.
- Use your knowledge of the commercial property market to identify opportunities and optimise outcomes.
- Lead negotiations on terms of disposal to secure best consideration and manage transactional risk.
- Work closely with project managers, consultants and internal services to progress assets through to disposal.
- Contribute expert input into governance processes, reports and recommendations.
- Build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including tenants, partners and council services.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified commercial property surveyor (RICS or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of valuation and property transactions.
- Experience of delivering complex disposals or asset management activity across varied property portfolios.
- Strong understanding of property markets and the ability to apply this to strategic decision-making.
- Experience of negotiating property transactions and achieving best value outcomes.
- Ability to provide clear, evidence-based professional advice in a governance environment.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholders.
