About the role:
- Managing a team of professionals in Environmental Protection, leading and inspiring them to achieve high quality service delivery, keeping our customers central in our approach.
- Build relationships across the Council and with external stakeholders and our customers ensuring we share knowledge and learning to deliver innovative and effective services.
- Act as the Lead Officer for Environmental Protection matters providing operational team support in statutory nuisance, private water supply, environmental permitting and contaminated land, dealing with the most complex cases.
- Oversee and manage the Air Quality programme for the Council.
- Oversee the Animal Warden Service.
- Strive to identify new innovative and creative ways of delivering services to improve efficiency yet maintaining high standards of service delivery by reviewing and revising current procedures and practice and ensuring local and national aims and objectives are implemented into service delivery.
- Manage the budget ensuring the service contributes to achieving the organisations financial targets.

Additional information: Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
