This job is an exciting 1‑year fixed term opportunity within the Senior Libraries Management Team to co‑lead on the delivery of our diverse ICT services. This is a hybrid role that blends deep technical expertise with service leadership – ideal for someone who thrives on both solving complex infrastructure challenges and management of customer‑facing ICT services.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and evolving a complex infrastructure across 13 Brighton & Hove libraries, consisting of public and staff domains, MS Active Directory, server environments, public access systems, and self‑service technologies – while shaping how digital services support our communities. You will be based predominantly at Jubilee Library, though will be expected to travel to other library sites within Brighton and Hove. This role reports to Head of Service, working alongside an experienced colleague in the same role and working closely with the Senior Library Managers.
What you’ll bring:
- Ability to work with the team to lead service delivery, ensuring high availability and performance across a 7‑day‑a‑week public service (5 days a week including alternate Saturdays)
- Expert‑level knowledge of IT infrastructure, Microsoft technologies and applications support
- Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align technology with service goals
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience managing contracts, and supplier relationships
- Ability to comprehend complex knowledge and typology of the landscape quickly
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
