We are looking for senior leaders who will support our drive the council to meet these aims.

About the role

We know that good quality housing is an integral foundation for people’s quality of life. A home where people feel safe, secure and part of their community makes a major impact on wellbeing and life chances.

As part of the extended Corporate Leadership Team, you will play a visible and influential role in:

  • setting the tone and culture of the organisation
  • advising at the most senior level
  • ensuring resources and effort are aligned to the delivery of the Council Plan
  • ensuring we demonstrate our values and behaviours in all we do

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • lead services with responsibility for residents’ access to housing advice and support
  • foster partnerships with colleagues across the council and other stakeholders to respond positively to growing demand and complexity of need
  • set a creative culture for identifying better solutions to housing need and ensuring people have access to the support they need
  • offer an accomplished track record of delivery and achievement as well as expert knowledge of housing management
  • need a system wide perspective to create the necessary partnerships to address the root causes of homelessness and shape a cohesive strategic approach to supporting vulnerable residents

Your experience

It is important that you have proven experience in leading services where you have empowered staff to deliver excellent services and outcomes, using change management skills to bring about service improvement.

You will have:

  • an unwavering focus on providing first-class services to our residents, making full use of technology and data to enhance capacity
  • a proven track record of robust and sustainable financial management
  • a well-informed understanding of the diversity and complexity of needs that can exist in a vibrant and progressive city, with a vision of how your teams will meet that need
  • the political acumen necessary for this role
