Job Introduction

You will deliver effective communication and interpersonal skills, be efficient, and maintain a high degree of productivity during the working day. To undertake waste/recycling collection duties under the direction of the supervisor. You will be able to work well in a diverse team and be responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and the completion of the daily collection rounds. We are looking for individuals with a positive outlook who are ready to take on a challenging role.

  • You will be an ambassador for Environmental Services when interacting with the public out on the streets of Brighton.
  • As a member of the team, you will be responsible for removing household refuse and recycling, including industrial and commercial waste from various locations.
  • You will use recycling and refuse containers such as wheelie bins and boxes, assisting with heavy lifting and vehicle maneuvering.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Maintain respectful and dignified relationships and communication within the Council and with the public.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely.
  • Understand and respect the communication needs of colleagues and customers, considering equality and diversity.
  • Show consideration and respect for others\’ feelings, opinions, and cultures.

No previous experience is required as training and personal protective equipment will be provided. Reasonable adjustments will be made if required.

Salary and Hours

Salary: Band scale 3: Β£26,403 – Β£26,824 per annum, plus 4 hours overtime: Β£4,282 – Β£4,350, totaling Β£30,684 – Β£31,173 plus enhancements.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 14:42 or 07:00 – 15:42, totaling 41 hours per week.
