About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Shared Lives Officer to support carers and vulnerable adults in a CQC‑registered Shared Lives scheme. The role involves ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred care and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Recruit carers through promotional activities.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of prospective carers, including statutory checks and references.
- Provide information to carers and potential carers about their roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure carers complete essential training and maintain ongoing compliance.
- Provide a matching service for clients, enabling informed decisions about placements.
- Support carers in their role through professional, practical, and emotional support.
- Conduct quarterly and annual review meetings to ensure compliance with CQC requirements.
- Deliver training to carers where required, particularly around medication competency.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and reviews.
- Liaise with children’s and young person services to support transitions to adult services where required.
- Provide cover for colleagues.
- Facilitate regular carer meetings and coordinate annual feedback.
- Contribute to the development of the service as part of the wider team.
- Ensure accurate and timely record keeping.
- Adhere to the Council’s Equalities Policy and behaviour framework.
- Follow the Council’s Health and Safety policies.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a related area.
Experience and skills:
- Substantial experience working with vulnerable adults.
- Experience assessing needs within person‑centred services.
- Experience working in an inspected or regulated service.
- Experience managing staff and/or contract delivery.
- Experience dealing with sensitive and/or difficult issues.
- Experience supporting the learning and development of others.
- Experience delivering training.
- Significant experience working collaboratively with a range of professionals.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to provide effective support.
- Ability to work creatively with carers and service users to implement support plans.
